Readers proclaim the Word of God, offer the welcome, and lead the Prayer of the Faithful during Mass and special liturgical celebrations.

Lectors are asked to devote time to prayerful study and practice of the Scripture readings. Training for new readers is offered annually and is required before serving in this ministry. While prior experience speaking in front of groups is helpful, it is not required; participation in training is essential.
