Altar servers play a vital role in the liturgical life of the Catholic Church, assisting the priest and deacon during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Their service helps ensure the reverence and smooth flow of the rites, allowing the congregation to fully participate in the mystery of the Eucharist.
Responsibilities of altar servers include serving as book bearers, candle bearers, censer bearers, and assisting during the presentation of the gifts.
Junior Altar Servers are students in grades 4–12 from St. Charles and CCD who assist during Mass. Training is provided.
